Following the substantial usability updates in V7.5 we are pleased to announce the release of Lockdown Composer V7.6. In this release, we have introduced a cool new resampling FX Rack within the Slicer, together with 3 new FX Units. We have also enhanced the Song Gen Wizards, together with a range of auto-stretch and timing helpers to keep you on beat.
New Resampling FX Rack on the Slicer
You have access to unlimited FX Racks on the Master Sequencer. You also have a realtime FX Rack on the Player as well as resampling racks against each drum on the Drummer. The Slicer was feeling a bit left out. Now, you have a gorgeous new resampling FX Rack on the Slicer, with access to the same 30+ FX units to instantly shape and resample your sounds. You can resample in-place or add to your sample, making it easier than ever before to shape your sounds locally within the Slicer, whilst overlaying the rest of your composition.
New FX Units
To celebrate the launch of this cool new FX Rack, we have introduced three new FX units to use in your shiny new rack, which takes the total number of FX units to over 30.
- SPACE - A 3D panning FX unit, that lets you place your sound with depth perception capabilities.
- MAXIMISER - Diminutive but potent. Combines the gain and limiter units to provide that instant impact.
- PANNER - You can now use a dedicated panner on any FX Rack, within the Slicer, Drummer, Player and the Master Sequencer.
Auto-Stretch Per Slice
The Slicer now provides the ability to capture playback speed against each slice. This means you can now control and stretch each slice independently, within the same sample. Together with the easily accessible pitching capabilities within the new FX Rack and the resampling features, you can easily identify, slice, shape and beat match your loops within samples containing mixed audio content.
Simplified Timing Corrections
We have enhanced and radically simplified the timing info dialogue. Whenever you change your song's BPM, you can now simply click to auto-fix all slices that do not fit within the song's timing grid. You can still do this manually if you choose.
Simplified Beat Detection
The Beat Detection utility on the Slicer now has the capability to calculate BPM based on the selected loop size and will auto stretch the sample. Due to the slice-level storage of the playback speed, automatic beat detection and playback speed, changes will no longer invalidate locked slices.
Improved Song Gen Wizards
Following the beat detection and time stretching improvements, we have also improved the song wizards. When you use the wizard that creates a structure from a single sample, you no longer have to preselect the song's BPM. The wizard will set that for you and you can now change the BPM and auto-stretch your slices using a single click after the song generation process has completed.
We have also improved the slicing wizard used by the song wizard that creates song structures based on your loaded samples. As well as peak detection, the slicing wizard now makes adaptive corrections to identify downbeats more accurately, to minimise fine-tuning of slice boundaries post generation.
Synth to Sampler
There is a new feature available on the Player that lets you create a sampled instrument from a synth patch using a single click. Some of the 32-voice synths can be resource intensive and this feature can be used to create additional headroom for your compositions if you are using the Composer on more modest spec machines. You still have all the options to bounce to the Slicer.
