See the latest release infoWe are super-excited to announce the bumper summer release of Lockdown Composer V5.0. This is one of our biggest releases to date and we are excited to share the news with you. We designed the Composer to be creative, fun and exciting … and in this release, we have significantly extended the Composer’s fun factor. Some of the difficult production challenges are now easier to solve than ever before … save time and discover amazing new soundscapes, which you probably never knew existed in your audio.
Drummer And Player Track Types
One of the streamlined features of the Composer is its ability to auto-slice audio fragments to create loops and arrange these loops in the master sequencer to create songs. As well as audio slices from the Slicer, you can now also drag-and-drop drum patterns from the Drummer and note sequences from the Player (which can act as a Synth or Sampler), directly onto the master sequencer.
For performance and convenience, you can still bounce Drummer and Player patterns as audio fragments onto the Slicer as before, but with the addition of these new track types, you can significantly extend your creative reach.
Wave And Midi Plots On The Master Sequencer
To celebrate the new track types feature, we invite you to feast your eyes over the gorgeous new plots of all your audio slices ... no matter how small ... and also see the steps in your Drummer and Player patterns.
Unlimited Patterns And Locked Slices
Also to celebrate the new integration between the different audio units, we have removed the ceilings on the number of patterns you can create on the Slicer and Player. You can now create unlimited items in these playgrounds for re-use in your compositions.
Create And Shape New Instruments In The Player
Each pattern in the Player can now have different interchangeable settings and sound shapers. The patterns are largely categorised into two types, instruments and synths. You can also sample your drum buffers as well as any slice from the Slicer, to create sampled instruments instantly. Then, simply drag-and-drop these onto your song structure.
Distortion FX On Player
We have now included a distortion FX on the Player tuning chain, in addition to the shaper, reverb and delay FXs. You can use these for pre-shaping your instruments, before inclusion on the master sequencer FX Racks … and don’t forget, you can also record auto-shaping params directly on the player using the Shaper FX.
Slicer, Drummer And Player Integration With The Master Sequencer
All the core audio units are now integrated into the master sequencer timeline. This allows you to play your composition on the master sequencer … and overlay anything you play on the Slicer, Drummer or Player. This enables you to play and layer the core audio units to test new audio loops, drum patterns and note sequences in an integrated playground. If you want to hear any unit on its own, you now have convenient SOLO buttons on each unit.
You can capture what you like as recordings and as patterns and slices for use in your compositions. A very useful feature of this integrated approach is the ability to move all the core audio units in your master timeline by simply dragging the master loop selector. You can therefore test fragments of audio within the different audio units, layered on top of your main composition to try new ideas in different parts of your song.
Player Notes Editor
The Player has received a lot of love in this release. We have created a gorgeous New Notes Editor that helps you visualise your notes, including tail fades and velocities. The summary view now enables you to edit your sequences a-bar-at-a-time, including the ability to copy and paste notes and sound shapers between different bars in different patterns. You can now also re-capture your notes and settings separately on each pattern in the player playground.
Player In Ultra-Wide Screen Mode
You can now extend the player for ultra-wide screen layouts. With gorgeous new colour schemes to differentiate the different modes of the Player, you’ll love the practicality and usability of the new layout.
32 Voice FM Synth
We have removed the 8 voice limit on the FM Synth :) … now limited to an incredible 32 voices. Just try it … we think you’ll love it!
Pre-Defined Major And Minor Compact Modes
Want to jam and improvise, without going off-beat? We have now included a minor scale in addition to the major compact scale. Use a single click to compact your keyboard with useful scale guides … and get jamming.
Volume Automations On Song Patterns
We have extended the ramp automations against each of your song patterns to include some cool new variations, including Shimmer, Gate And Random volume patterns.
Record Slicer As Core Unit
Following the integration of the Slicer with the master sequencer, we have also included the Slicer as a separately recordable core unit, to fit alongside the Drummer and Player streams. You can still record the Slicer as part of the ‘Record Everything’ option.
Gen Section Patterns For Your Song
As well as generating complete song structures, you can now generate ideas a section at a time.
Drummer Pattern Loops, Including Mute Function
We have improved the looping capabilities in the Drummer playground. The Drummer also includes a convenient Mute option against each of the patterns, which can be included in your loop sequences to test progressions in overlayed format where you do not want drummer patterns at the start.
Pad-Lock Quantisation
The quantisation options in the Pad-Lock now also include quarter beats and bars, in addition to sixteenths. You can queue and release any number of your faved slices, upto 64, in sync with the master sequencer.
WindowSize Slider On Pitch FX
The Pitch Shifter FX now has a WindowSize slider, available on all FX Racks.

In addition, we have included a huge number of usability and performance improvements, including a new Side-Chaining algorithm, runtime pooling to enable you to use more tracks for your compositions, especially with the addition of the new Drummer and Player track types.
