We are pleased to announce the release of Lockdown Composer V7.8, which includes a gorgeous new Visualiser, a Multimeter, a Stutter feature on the Slicer and a range of additional usability improvements.
Visualiser
Want to see what your audio looks like? Whether you just want a bit of movement and interest or want to record something for your end release, you can now see an animated rendition of your awesome creations. You can start an animation from any piece of audio in the Sample Viewer. Why not check it out ... it's quite addictive.
New Multimeter
We have added a very useful new multimeter to our existing range of FX Units, which now total well in excess of 30 units. This new meter includes a Goniometer and a Correlation meter, which enable you to easily identify stereo spread and potential phase issues in your mix. Combined with the Analyser, Stereo Meter and the Mono unit, you can build quite sophisticated monitoring chains to visualise the inner details of your mix within any channel. Unlike all-in-one FX units, you can use the metering and analysis units in any permutation within your FX Racks.
Stutter Feature
The Slicer in the Composer produces up to 64 slices in realtime as you move the audio wave around. You can use these slices by simply dragging and dropping them on to your song structure. You can also shape, stretch and resample slices using the dedicated resampling rack. Now, you have an additional feature which can analyse and combine these beat-matched slices into stutter sequences, which you can edit, bounce, reshape and reuse in your compositions. Check it out ... it's another addictive feature ... and will reveal amazing detail in your audio, which you probably never knew existed.
General Meter
Lockdown Composer is a pattern-based DAW, which enables you to capture general-purpose audio samples for slicing, shaping and sequencing within your compositions. Unlike traditional DAWs, you do not have to record on any particular track, you can simply make ad-hoc recordings for use in your compositions, as well as reuse to create drums, samplers, etc. We have introduced a general-purpose level meter, which is used by the mic. It can be useful to set and track your mic levels during setup and recording.
Movable Drums
The Drummer is sample-based. You can arm it with a range of acoustic and electronic samples, including access to over half a million samples in the Freesound database. Although each drum may have a label identifying it as a traditional drum, you can load and shape pretty much any sound in the drummer, including sampling any of the synths or audio slices from the slicer. As a result, the drummer is designed to be general-purpose and configurable. You can now move and arrange your drum channels in any order and your patterns, including their references in the song structure, will reflect the changed layout. You can use this to more easily organise your drum patches and build those awesome, unique drum machines.
